Not to mention most of the War Games, as well.

Not being able to climb some of the gentle slopes is a tad annoying. Now, being able to fall would add a bit to the game. Since battle damage is already available, it should be able to calculate damage from a fall off a bridge and/or cliff.

It would be neat to knock a few opponents off a bridge with a hammer blow.

In the best of worlds yes, but many people bought the game specifically for its differences from MMOs. I've never liked an MMO. While any suggestion can be valid, some just don't make sense, or would require so much reworking that it would be impossible to do - I programmed a few projects for a professor who had NO grasp of programming, and sometimes he'd make a request that seemed tough to him and I could do it in a half hour, and other times he'd ask for something that seemed simple and I'd have to tell him that it'd be next to impossible. If someone suggested a new classs, Tank Operator, and wanted to roll aound in a Sherman blasting Charr, or they want a spitfire they can fly over the scenery in and engage the enemies from the air I'd feel justified in telling them they've picked the wrong game. This isn't a flight simulator, it isn't a FPS, it isn't the sims. Energy spent making the game into something it isn't is money thrown into something that many of us don't want, and while I agree that name calling or ridiculing folks is entirely inappropriate it is fair to express the belief that something doesn't fit in the game, as the developers deserve to hear from the people who don't want the change suggested. There are many good suggestions here that get plenty of support, and many people suggesting the same thing over and over, and many that are not within the scope of the game, or at least not within the vision of the game that has been inspired in me over the past 1 1/2 years.

The only way i can think that jumping would be implemented into the game would be for a more tatical advantage, and ive yet to experience a mmorpg that actually requires a enviromental tactical advantage. We have rain, but it doesnt actually effect anything. The only enviromental part on this are the swamps which slow your speed.
Maybe climb up a tree for more damage with arrows ? only to cry in fear as the elementalist sets fire to it, lmao.

Thank you! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Ive been trying to say exactly that for just about forever! Jumping swimming etc.. very good idea

Do you all even realize what would happen to the game if they did this? The patch would be hundreds..HUNDREDS of megabites and take forever for Anet to create. Doing this would upset the balance and the very design of the game. It would no longer be Guild wars where you are supposed to employ strategy.

The game can hardly process the Z-Axis (attacking enemies below you in a bridge for example) and you want it to process jumping?

maybe you're playing the wrong game

i think the lack of jumping is an issue of balance.

But a quick question, would processing of jumping around increase the bandwidth needed? I know this game was built to run on 56k, so would adding more mobility options cause strain on the servers?

Where do you want to jump people, there is nowhere to jump in this game whatsoever, but if you insist, try the jump emote ;o) The only moment when jumping would be handy is to jump over my pet when it's in my way ;o)

They should allow Jumping Climbing and Swimming, But not in outposts or cities. So people don't look like monkies.

Come on man, give us harder questions. Hehe
You forgot EQ1, and thats been around for a long time. But I think adding all these movement controls to the game would increase server strain. Remember, the games we're listing aren't "Free to Play" but 15$ a month. There has to be a reason why a lot of features aren't present in GW that are present in the "big name" MMOs. Its one of the corners they cut to get into your house for free. I for one, am quite happy with the compromise.

Though, I do wish I could swim. that water off the coast of LA looks so inviting, and I wanna kill a shark
